Ribbon-cutting ceremony for new Workforce Connection Center location in Sunland Park

New Mexico Workforce Connection will open a new location in Sunland Park with a grand opening celebration on September 15, 2022.

“We are thrilled to be opening another New Mexico Workforce Connection Center in this dynamic area of New Mexico’s border,” said Department of Workforce Solutions Secretary Sarita Nair. “From the top of our state in Farmington to the southern reaches of Sunland Park, our Career Consultants, Business Service Representatives, Veteran Outreach Specialists, and partner staff are helping New Mexicans build strong businesses and great careers.”

The event will be attended by the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) Employment Services Division Director Marcos Martinez who will be joined by City of Sunland Park Mayor Javier Perea, and Alisa Estrada, Chair of the Southwest Area Workforce Development Board.

“As Sunland Park continues to grow, so does the need for employment opportunities,” said Mayor Javier Perea, City of Sunland Park. “The grand opening of the New Mexico Workforce Connection office in Sunland Park celebrates the many new connections to education, training, and employment closer to home. We are happy to welcome our partners to the region!”

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) oversees the New Mexico public workforce system. The department is committed to supporting the business community through special recruitment, analyzing hard to fill jobs, layoffs, job fairs, and skills assessments for hiring; and assisting New Mexicans seeking employment opportunities with job search, job referrals and placement, and customized skill development such as interviewing skills and resume writing. The department administers programs to include business services; workforce training; Unemployment Insurance; labor law enforcement; veterans’ services; and labor market information.

    Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions. Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

    Plumber?

    Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems.

    Ironworker?

    Raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. May erect metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.

  • Do you want to become an

    Electrician?

    Perform preliminary work with the material and tools of the trade; residential and commercial rough wiring and finish work including the installation of various kinds of wires, cables, and conduits per the National Electrical Code; industrial lighting and service installation; motors controls and installation including emergency generators, relays, and timing devices.
