The Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) program publishes estimates of the CIVILIAN LABOR FORCE, EMPLOYMENT, AND UNEMPLOYMENT, AND THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE monthly using concepts and definitions that are consistent with those of the Current Population Survey (CPS), also known as the household survey. Data are produced for the United States, statewide New Mexico, the four metropolitan statistical areas (Albuquerque, Farmington, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe), all 33 counties, and cities with populations of 25,000 and over. LAUS data are closely followed because they are among the earliest economic data indicating current economic conditions and, due to this timeliness, are highly demanded and heavily used in the private and public sectors. Data is published monthly on the LASER website and within the monthly News Release and Labor Market Review.

Areas include the United States; New Mexico statewide; the Albuquerque, Farmington, Las Cruces, and Santa Fe metropolitan areas; and each of New Mexico's 33 counties.
