$400,000 Awarded to New Mexico for On-The-Job Training

NMDWS receives funding to assist employers and dislocated workers

(Albuquerque) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has been awarded $400,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) for On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunities in New Mexico. The benefits of the funding are twofold because employers can benefit from reduced hiring and training costs for new employees, and dislocated workers, who have collected unemployment benefits for a minimum of 21.5 weeks, have the opportunity to build their network and gain valuable work experience as they reenter the workforce.

U.S. News STEM Solutions 2012- A Leadership Summit
(Albuquerque, NM) – New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) Cabinet Secretary Celina Bussey has been selected as a panelist for the U.S. News STEM Solutions 2012 Leadership Summit in Dallas, Texas, June 27-29, 2012. Secretary Bussey will join other professionals, experts, and business leaders on panel discussions focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) policy issues and workforce development during the three-day summit.

New Mexico Has Triggered Off of Tier III

Tier III of Emergency Unemployment Compensation to End July 7, 2012
(Albuquerque, NM) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions announced that New Mexico has triggered off Tier III of the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits, effective July 7, 2012. Those Unemployment Insurance claimants eligible to claim Tier III benefits before July 7 will continue to receive remaining Tier III payments, up to 13 weeks, as part of a phase-out period.

(Albuquerque) - The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions' Unemployment Insurance (UI) call center will be closed Monday, May 28, 2012 in observance of Memorial Day. The department urges claimants to plan accordingly.
