NMCCV Resources

Each NMCCV AmeriCorps program works closely with a program associate to troubleshoot program challenges, ensure compliance with federal program requirements and identify best practices suitable for use by the program.

AmeriCorps Training Opportunities

Each year, NMCCV sponsors in-person training opportunities for AmeriCorps programs.

New Mexico Launch AmeriCorps Conference
Attendees participate in workshops that offer new strategies for communicating program impacts and new approaches to AmeriCorps member development. Additional sessions touch on fraud prevention and integrating programmatic and fiscal policies and procedures to ensure adequate program oversight. Highlights include discussions on the implementation of the groundbreaking Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act that has reauthorized and updated national service programming, as well as ongoing dialogues about renewing the commitment to service as a solution to tackle our communities’ most pressing needs. Check back for specific dates and locations.

Regional Training Events
Throughout the year, Serve New Mexico organizes regional training events for AmeriCorps State and National Programs. A listing of regional trainings for the 2010-11 program year will be posted as soon as it is available.

Online Training Resources

To supplement its training opportunities, there are online training courses for program staff and potential grantees to complete at their leisure. Courses include:

  • AmeriCorps 101 - perfect for the new program staff member or an organization interested in learning AmeriCorps basics
  • Financial Management - designed to review program financial requirements perfect for both program and fiscal staff
  • Disability Inclusion - provides program staff with fundamental training on inclusion principles

National Resources

The Corporation for National and Community Service maintains the National Service Resource Center, a web site that captures AmeriCorps training materials and best practices from throughout the country all in one location.

You can visit the National Service Resource Center at: www.nationalservice.gov/resources/americorps.

Check out the ASC Resource Library to view Governor’s/State Service Awards best practice documents and tools from state commissions. The Resource Library currently has more than 30 items including nomination packets, resource guides, awards ceremony materials, and sponsorship packets.

To access the Resource Library, go to http://www.statecommissions.org/ and click on Resources, then Resource Library. Once on the Resource Library page, go to the Search by Topic box and click on Governor’s/State Service Awards. You can further narrow your search by clicking on a specific state in the Sub-Topic box. ** You must be registered on ASC’s web site to access the Resource Library. If you are not registered, click the Register button on the top-right corner of ASC’s home page. ** If you have trouble accessing the Resource Library, please contact Joe Gersen at jgersen@asc-online.org.

The Clearinghouse maintains a website with timely information and relevant resources to support service-learning programs, practitioners, and researchers. The Clearinghouse operates discussion lists for K-12, cbo, tribes and territories, and higher education service-learning to encourage discussion and exchange of ideas.

ASC are pleased to announce the launch a new resource, the AmeriCorps*State Program Replication Wiki. The purpose of the Wiki is to help encourage and support state service commissions to replicate successful AmeriCorps*State programs. Through the Wiki, we aim to provide state service commissions with a vehicle for sharing lessons learned and best practices as they pursue opportunities to accelerate meeting state needs through already proven AmeriCorps*State programs. Click here to access the Wiki.
