New Mexico Corrections Department
The Reentry Division is committed to the citizens of New Mexico to decrease pro-criminal attitudes and behavior among offenders. Furthermore, this office is committed to providing evidence-based programs that will provide the skills necessary for the offender to become productive and law-abiding. Our mission is to fulfill the Department’s Public Safety purpose by providing and developing evidence-based programs designed to reduce recidivism and to prepare offenders to be productive, law-abiding citizens in their communities.
NM Corrections Department AmeriCorps members will increase the job readiness and financial capacities of incarcerated individuals in eight correctional institutions across the state. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving the job readiness and financial literacy of the incarcerated population six months to release.
