Businesses Invited to Attend the 2012 New Mexico Employer Summit

Half-day event tailored for employers in Albuquerque

(Albuquerque, NM) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has partnered with organizations, associations, and companies to present the 2012 New Mexico Employer Summit-Albuquerque on December 6, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque.

“The employer summits are great opportunities for the Department to partner with employers, professional associations, and subject matter experts around the state,” said Secretary Celina Bussey. “This summit will be particularly valuable for businesses because we will discuss the upcoming changes that will significantly benefit employers with the launch of our new, full-integrated Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims system on January 6, 2013. This is in addition to information-rich panel discussions about employment law topics and the public workforce system resources that can help with hiring and training costs.”

The summit includes three panel discussions: “Navigating the Road Ahead: Changes, Best Practices, and Understanding Unemployment Insurance,” “Independent Contractor vs. Employee” and “Boost Your Hiring and Training ROI.” The half-day event will also include keynote speakers, a networking breakfast, and exhibit booths.

Registration is $25 per person, advanced registration is required, and seating is limited. To register, visit http://2012employersummit-es2.eventbrite.com/. General information about the event is also available at www.dws.state.nm.us/EmployerSummit.

The partners for the 2012 New Mexico Employer Summit-Albuquerque include: Innovate+Educate; New Options New Mexico; Manpower; the New Mexico Small Business Development Center; the National Association of Women Business Owners-Northern New Mexico; Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce; the Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico; and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.

Governor Susana Martinez has led the charge to create a more competitive workforce for the benefit of all New Mexicans.  With this in mind, the Summit partnership is one of many ways in which Secretary Bussey continues to engage the Department of Workforce Solutions with the business community and to promote the vast array of employment-related services and resources available to job seekers across the state.
