Businesses Invited to Attend the 2014 New Mexico Employer Summit
Event and luncheon tailored for employers in Albuquerque
(Albuquerque, NM) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has partnered with organizations, associations, and companies to present the 2014 New Mexico Employer Summit-Albuquerque on June 12, 2014 from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the CNM Workforce Training Center in Albuquerque (5600 Eagle Rock Avenue).
“The employer summits are great opportunities for the Department to partner with employers, community colleges, professional associations, and subject matter experts around the state,” said Secretary Celina Bussey. “This summit will be particularly valuable for businesses because it will cover unique information related to the healthcare reform and the requirements for small business under the Affordable Care Act.”
The summit includes three main panel discussions: “How to Align Business Practices with Unemployment Insurance Policy,” “How Employment and Labor Laws Apply to Your Business,” and “The Affordable Care Act-What Businesses Need to Know.” The event will also include keynote speakers, a networking breakfast, a luncheon, and exhibit booths. HRCI credit is currently pending.

The partners for the 2014 New Mexico Employer Summit-Albuquerque include: the Central New Mexico Community College; the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); the Human Resource Management Association of New Mexico (HRMA); National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO); the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber; the Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce; the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce; New Mexico Workforce Connection; and the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions.
Governor Susana Martinez has led the charge to create a more competitive workforce for the benefit of all New Mexicans. With this in mind, the Summit partnership is one of many ways in which Secretary Bussey continues to engage the Department of Workforce Solutions with the business community and to promote the vast array of employment-related services and resources available to job seekers across the state.
