Governor's Office Seeking Applications for State Workforce Development Board


The Office of the Governor is seeking applications for appointments to the New Mexico State Workforce Development Board (SWDB). The SWDB advises on statewide workforce development strategies and plays a key role in aligning education, training, and employment efforts with the State’s economic goals.

Board Member Responsibilities:
Board members provide strategic guidance to align workforce, education, and economic development efforts across New Mexico. They are expected to attend quarterly meetings, serve on committees, and help shape policies that support a skilled workforce and responsive talent pipeline. Current Openings:
We are currently seeking to fill board positions with Business Representatives who:
• are owners of New Mexico businesses, chief executives or operating officers of businesses, or other business executives or employers with optimum policymaking or hiring authority, and who, in addition, may be members of a local board;
• represent businesses in New Mexico (including small businesses), or organizations representing businesses, that provide employment opportunities that, at a minimum, include high-quality, work-relevant training and development in in-demand industry sectors or occupations in the State;
• are appointed from among individuals nominated by State business organizations and business trade associations;
While not specifically required, priority will be given to applicants who:
• are based in areas of New Mexico that are currently underrepresented on the board;
• work in one of the priority sectors identified in the State’s workforce plan. (Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace, Biosciences, Broadband Expansion, Construction Industries, Early Childhood Education and Care, Energy Transition and Climate Resilience, First Responders, Health Care including Behavioral Health, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable and Value-Added Agriculture)

    Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions. Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

    Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems.

    Raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. May erect metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.

    Electrician?

    Perform preliminary work with the material and tools of the trade; residential and commercial rough wiring and finish work including the installation of various kinds of wires, cables, and conduits per the National Electrical Code; industrial lighting and service installation; motors controls and installation including emergency generators, relays, and timing devices.
