NMDWS implementing Multi-Factor Authentication to enhance website login protection for employment and unemployment services

The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions is implementing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for individuals logging in to the New Mexico Workforce Connection Online System (https://www.jobs.state.nm.us); a portal to both employment services and the Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims System. MFA will provide an additional layer of security for a layered defense to mitigate against unauthorized access of Department of Workforce Solutions online services.

Whether an individual is a new or returning user, the first time they log in to https://www.jobs.state.nm.us on or after June 20, 2023, they will be asked to verify their account by obtaining a verification code to a valid accessible email address or by text message. They will then use that code to log in to their account.

“Safeguarding the personal identifiable information of the public we serve is a top priority for our department,” said NMDWS Secretary Sarita Nair. “Multi-Factor Authentication is another tool that enhances our robust security measures that continuously work to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, potential threats, and vulnerabilities in this time of an ever-changing digital landscape.”

The New Mexico Workforce Connection Online System (https://www.jobs.state.nm.us) is New Mexico's official online portal to virtual job matching services, employment resources, the Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims System, labor market information, and much more.
