NMDWS, Local Officials, and State Legislators to hold press conference on the start of payment applications from the ETA Displaced Worker Assistance Fund
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will host a press conference at San Juan County McGee Park in Farmington on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. to announce the Energy Transition Act (ETA) Displaced Worker Assistance Fund of over $12 million is ready to be made available as direct assistance to those affected by the closure of the San Juan Generation Station and adjacent coal mine.
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will begin to take in person applications May 2-3, 2023, from 9am to 7pm at San Juan County McGee Park, 41 Road 5568, Farmington, NM 87401. Applications will also be taken at the Nenahnezad Chapter House, 50 Ft West, Fruitland, NM 87416 on May 5, from 9am to 12pm.
Applications must be completed in person. To complete the application, individuals must bring the following with them:
• Driver’s License, State Issued ID, or Tribal ID
• Proof of residence currently or at time of layoff (gas, electric, water, auto insurance, or phone bill that shows your address)
WHAT: The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) will begin taking in person applications for the Energy Transition Act (ETA) Displaced Worker Assistance Fund on May 2, 2023 for New Mexico residents who were terminated from employment, or whose contracts were terminated, due to the abandonment of the San Juan Generation Station and adjacent coal mine. This includes PNM San Juan Generating Station, Westmoreland San Juan Mine, AIMS, and Savage Services.
