Successful hiring event in Moriarty for clean energy jobs

(Albuquerque, NM) – On October 7, 2020 the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) and New Mexico Workforce Connection partnered with Blattner Energy, a subcontractor to Pattern Energy, to stage a hiring event in Moriarty for jobs in the wind energy Sector. 40 individuals were interviewed for 28 positions in the effort to build Pattern Energy’s new 2,200 Mega Watt wind farm in Eastern New Mexico.

The Moriarty Civic Center was used to keep efforts socially distant, with all participants wearing masks and applicants waiting in cars until their appointed interview time.

“Governor Lujan Grisham believes strongly that the development of New Mexico’s wind energy sector will not only allow us to fight climate change but also provide great careers for our friends and neighbors,” said NMDWS Secretary Bill McCamley. “We will continue to aggressively promote clean energy jobs that will move us into a safer, better 21st Century.”

Energy sector jobs are among the thousands of current job openings listed in the New Mexico Workforce Connection Online System, www.jobs.state.nm.us. Job seekers can view and apply for  current job openings across the state, along with job training opportunities, and career services.

Individuals may also contact their local New Mexico Workforce Connection to work one-on-one with a career specialist on employment and career goals. Specialists are providing services by phone, email and virtual meetings. A list of local offices can be found at https://www.dws.state.nm.us/Office-Locations.
