Track your New Mexico unemployment claim online with NMDWS’s new tools

New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has launched a new online Claim Status Bar to help unemployment insurance claimants easily track their claims and understand next steps.

The Claim Status Bar is designed to provide clarity and reduce uncertainty for claimants by providing real-time updates as claims move through the system. Claimants can now see at a glance whether their claim is under review, requires additional information, and what steps they need to take next.

“One of the top reasons people call the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center is to check on the status of a claim. The Claim Status Bar provides a clear understanding of where a claim is in the process and helps reduce uncertainty during what can often be a stressful time,” said NMDWS Cabinet Secretary Sarita Nair. “We are committed to improving the claimant experience and making unemployment insurance as clear and accessible as possible”

In addition to the Claim Status Bar, NMDWS has expanded the ways claimants can connect with a live person to answer their Unemployment Insurance (UI) questions. Claimants may now:

  • Chat online: Use the live chat feature when logged in to the UI Tax & Claims System (https://www.jobs.state.nm.us) Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • In-person: Visit an America’s Job Center New Mexico location for one-on-one assistance.

  • By phone: Call the UI Operations Center at 1-877-664-6984, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

These new features are part of the department’s ongoing efforts to modernize services and meet individuals where they are. Assistance for UI is available for everyone, whether self-guided online, talking to a representative by phone, chatting with a representative through the online system, or receiving in-person assistance.

For more information about UI, visit https://www.dws.state.nm.us/Unemployment or contact the UI Operations Center at 1-877-664-6984.
