The Administrative Law Judge on behalf of the Human Rights Commission will hold a virtual hearing on January 6, 2021.

Notice is hereby given that the Human Rights Commission will convene at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.  

All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ (NMDWS) offices, including the Unemployment Insurance (UI) Operations Center, will be closed on Thursday, December 24 starting at 1 p.m. for Winter Holiday Leave granted by Governor Lujan Grisham; and all day Friday, December 25, 2020 in observance of Christmas; and Friday, January 1, 2021, in observance of the New Year holiday. The department urges claimants to plan accordingly.

The United States Congress is working on legislation that may extend the unemployment benefits programs created under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act). If the legislation is enacted, the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) will work to implement program updates as quickly as possible. However, the department must wait on guidance from the U.S. Department of Labor before the provisions of the Act can be implemented.

Participants from 33 High School teams convened virtually on Saturday, December 12, 2019 for the 2^nd Annual New Mexico Governor’s STEM Challenge, a competition testing students’ ability to use science, technology, engineering, and math to solve real-world problems. Led by New Mexico’s Office of the Governor, the Challenge was a collaboration between New Mexico State University (NMSU), the Department of Public Education, the Department of Workforce Solutions, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and 18 other STEM employers in the state.
