I was on PUA in another state before and was sent to New Mexico unemployment due to my funds running out. New Mexico has me on standard UI. Why is that and how will this affect my benefits? Under the rules provided by the federal government, a claimant must exhaust all standard benefits first if eligible. Then you will follow the program progression of PEUC and FDEB1.
My benefit year ended on January 30, 2021. I was given the option to apply for benefits again, but I am not sure if I should start a new claim or if I will be able to reopen my last one. Please file a new claim. The department will review your claim and make a determination for eligibility for benefits.
How will I know if the department received my social security card and driver’s license if I faxed them in? If you faxed or emailed your proof of identity in, we received it. We take fraud seriously and have dedicated staff who review each identity verification issue individually, as this process cannot be automated. We appreciate your patience as we work to verify identities as quickly as possible.
How will I know if I qualify if my account has been on hold for several weeks? If your account is on hold or has a pending issue, continue to complete your weekly certifications and look for any correspondence that may be sent to your “View Correspondence” or “My Inbox” on your online account. If you are approved for benefits, you will receive a lump sum payment for all weeks you were eligible and certified for.
What if I need clarification on my 1099? The amount is far more than total calculated and more than I’ve received. Please be advised that your 1099G includes payments that you may have received in 2020 including your weekly benefit amount, Lost Wages Assistance (LWA), Worker Pandemic Benefit (WPB), and the $600/week FPUC under the CARES Act.
Where can I go for other assistance during this time of uncertainty? There are several websites that offer additional resources, including the State of New Mexico website (www.newmexico.gov) and sharenm.org, that list agencies offering help with food, shelter, medical, dental, and mental health care, child care and more.
