Animal Trainer – Service Dog Instructor/Trainer

Train dogs for a variety of assistance dog roles, including serving individuals to mitigate their disabilities or promoting healing and comfort to many people experiencing trauma or disability as Facility, Courthouse Facility, or Crisis Response Canines. Meet the dogs’ mental, social, emotional, and physical needs. Train tasks and public access skills. Socialize the dogs in numerous and variable environments. Provide safe, hygienic, and enriched environments and daily activities for dogs of various ages and developmental stages. Plan and lead group and individual assistance dog training sessions with clients, volunteers, and student trainers. Match and provide ongoing support for new teams. Follow Assistance Dogs International accreditation guidelines and other industry recognized standards.

Salary in New Mexico based on the Occupational Information Network (O*Net).

Who Can Be an Animal Trainer - Service Dog Instructor/Trainer?

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma or GED. Applicants must also be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without reasonable accommodations, and without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of the individual or others, including the dogs in-training.

    Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems.

    Raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. May erect metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.
