Project Management Specialist Youth Apprenticeship Program

The Youth Apprentice Project Management Specialist will contribute to the development and completion of projects by helping to ensure that projects achieve their objective and are completed on time and on budget. They will be responsible for carrying out individual components of a project plan and administrative tasks such as project documentation. They also may act as a point of contact for stakeholders or vendors, monitor progress, and coordinate activities. In this role, the individual will attend meetings and assist with determining project requirements; track the progress and quality of project work; use project scheduling tools to monitor project plans, work hours, budgets, and expenditures; and communicate relevant project information to leaders and team. The salary for this position is between $14.56 and $18.20 per hour.

Who Can Be a Project Management Specialist?

The Youth Apprentice Project Manager will be part of the first-ever Youth Apprenticeship in New Mexico. This unique opportunity will include both required coursework and a commitment of approximately two years. The position requires a unique candidate who is willing to learn alongside a passionate team of colleagues who are authentically committed to equity and creating meaningful opportunities for young people. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age and no older than 24 years of age at the time of application. Applicants must also be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the apprenticeship program, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

      Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions. Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

      Plumber?

      Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems.

      Raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. May erect metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.

      Perform preliminary work with the material and tools of the trade; residential and commercial rough wiring and finish work including the installation of various kinds of wires, cables, and conduits per the National Electrical Code; industrial lighting and service installation; motors controls and installation including emergency generators, relays, and timing devices.
