Who Can Be a Roofer?
Must be 18 years of age or older, have a High School Diploma/GED, have reliable transportation, provide two forms of ID (Driver's License, Social Security Card, Alien Registration card, or other documentation verifying eligibility to work in the United States, etc.) and be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job: inspect problem roofs to determine the best repair procedures; remove snow, water, or debris from roofs prior to applying roofing materials; set up scaffolding to provide safe access to roofs; estimate materials and labor required to complete roofing jobs; cement or nail flashing strips of metal or shingle over joints to make them watertight. Abilities included but are not limited to gross body equilibrium, extent flexibility, problem sensitivity, trunk strength, and near vision.
