Be Pro Be Proud Program Engages Young People With Skilled Technical Career Paths
The New Mexico Center for Economic Opportunity (NMCEO), the education, charitable, and research 501(c)3 foundation of the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) launched Be Pro Be Proud (BPBP) program in Los Lunas, New Mexico at Los Lunas High School. The program is designed to connect New Mexico’s youth to technical careers and skilled trades through simulators and virtual reality experiences.
Unemployment Insurance Tax & Claims System Available Online
All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions’ offices, including the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center, will be closed on Friday, November 10, 2023 in observance of Veterans Day.
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the U.S. Department of Labor (USDOL) that will maximize and improve the enforcement of the laws administered by both agencies with greater coordination in regard to child labor.
Human Services Department (HSD), in conjunction with the Department of Workforce Solutions, will hold a Rapid Hire event to fill over 100 HSD positions statewide. The event will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2023, from 10am – 3pm at multiple New Mexico Workforce Connection Centers across the state.
The New Mexico State Workforce Development Board will hold virtual Zoom Meeting Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

UI benefits received will be required to be paid back to state if backpay is issued by employer
Federal employees in New Mexico who may be deemed “non-essential” and furloughed due to the temporary federal government shutdown may file for Unemployment Insurance benefits as soon the first day the shutdown occurs. The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) encourages any federal employees who might want to apply for unemployment insurance (UI) to prepare now by ensuring they have the necessary documentation and information needed.
