The Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program provides a monthly cash benefit used to meet basic family needs such as housing, utilities, and clothing. New Mexico Works connects TANF participants to exciting career opportunities through the Career Link and Wage Subsidy programs.

New Mexico Works Employer Partners

New Mexico Works provides eligible TANF participants with paid work experience. Participants are compensated by NMDWS, but assigned to work in government agencies or with private-sector employers who partner to provide  mentorship and support. Career Link and Wage Subsidy give employers flexible hiring options and a way to give back to the community as a work site partner.

Partner with Career Link

Career Link candidates are hired into part-time positions, working 20 hours/week with private industry employers. New Mexico employers who partner with Career Link are provided a financial incentive to hire eligible participants in ongoing jobs at no cost to the employer. Career Link can help to build a business and give employers greater flexibility in their hiring options.

Partner with Wage Subsidy

Wage Subsidy candidates are hired into full-time, 40 hours/week jobs within government agencies. Government agencies who partner with Wage Subsidy are provided a financial incentive to hire eligible participants in ongoing jobs at no cost to the employer. Wage Subsidy participants can help to contribute to the agency and give employers greater flexibility in their hiring options.

  • Do you want to become an

    Applications Developer?

    Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs. Analyze user needs and develop software solutions. Design software or customize software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency.

  • Do you want to become a

    Plumber?

    Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases. May install heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems.

  • Do you want to become an

    Ironworker?

    Raise, place, and unite iron or steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks. May erect metal storage tanks and assemble prefabricated metal buildings.

  • Do you want to become an

    Electrician?

    Perform preliminary work with the material and tools of the trade; residential and commercial rough wiring and finish work including the installation of various kinds of wires, cables, and conduits per the National Electrical Code; industrial lighting and service installation; motors controls and installation including emergency generators, relays, and timing devices.
