An Event Designed to Help Individuals with a Jumpstart into the Job Market

(Albuquerque, NM) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has partnered with the City of Albuquerque, the New Mexico Human Services Department, New Mexico Workforce Connection, Innovate Educate, Wells Fargo, and Old Navy to present the first “New Mexico Ready to Work” event on Friday, August 22, 2014 at the Albuquerque Convention Center from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Beyond a traditional job fair, “New Mexico Ready to Work” includes a series of activities and information designed to prepare individuals for a successful job search and employment opportunities all at one location. While visiting with prospective employers at the job fair, participants can attend “Mini Information Sessions” throughout the day on resume writing, networking, career exploration, professional branding, financial literacy, employment law, and gearing up for an interview. A resource room will be available for anyone who would like to apply or search for jobs online before leaving the event.

Information will also be available about TalentABQ and the 29 Skill Up Centers located in libraries, community centers and community college student support centers across Albuquerque. New Mexico Workforce Connection will also be at the event to assist with job search services and resources.

A list of participating employers and more information is available on the “Ready to Work” website at www.dws.state.nm.us/ReadyToWork.
