NMDWS Reminds Claimants to Plan Accordingly

NMDWS to Observe Upcoming Holidays

(Albuquerque) - All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions offices, including the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center, will be closed in observance of Christmas on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at noon, Thursday, December 25, 2014 and New Year’s on Thursday, January 1, 2015. The department urges claimants to plan accordingly. Individuals can apply for Unemployment Insurance (UI), certify for their weekly claim, and check their claim status by logging in at www.jobs.state.nm.us, Sunday through Friday from 4 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Operations Center will resume normal hours on Friday, December 26, and individuals can contact a Customer Service Agent in the NMDWS UI Operations Center at 1-877-664-6984 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

NMDWS would like to remind all eligible UI claimants that Thursday, December 25, 2014 and Thursday, January 1, 2015 are federal holidays. Some banking institutions and the US Postal Service will be closed in observance of Christmas and New Year’s. This may result in a delay of banking transactions for UI debit card and direct deposit benefit payment recipients. This will also result in a delay of mail delivery for a small portion of UI claimants who receive checks.

Computers are available at the local New Mexico Workforce Connection Centers and local libraries. A list of New Mexico Workforce Connection Centers is available at www.dws.state.nm.us by clicking “Office Locations.” Additional information about the UI program and the NMDWS is available at www.dws.state.nm.us. NMDWS has also launched the “Unemployment Insurance Informational Video Series,” which includes the “What You Should Know About UI” video. The videos are available on the NMDWS website at www.dws.state.nm.us, under “Unemployment Insurance,” and “What You Should Know About UI.” For the latest announcements and updates, follow NMDWS on Twitter (twitter.com/NMDWS) and the official YouTube channel (youtube.com/user/nmdws).
