New Mexico's Unemployment Rate was 8.2% in December 2020

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.2 percent in December 2020, up from 7.2 percent in November and up from 4.8 percent a year ago. The national unemployment rate in December was 6.7 percent, unchanged from November and up from 3.6 percent in December 2019. Total nonagricultural payroll employment fell by 65,100 jobs, or 7.5 percent, between December 2019 and December 2020.

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.1 percent in October 2020, down from 9.9 percent in September and up from 4.8 percent a year ago. The national unemployment rate in October was 6.9 percent, down from 7.9 percent in September 2020 and up from 3.6 percent in October 2019. Total nonagricultural payroll employment fell by 54,700 jobs, or 6.3 percent, between October 2019 and October 2020.
