Effective immediately: PREPAID DEBIT CARD UPDATE

New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions will no longer accept Prepaid Debit Card accounts as a direct deposit payment option for Unemployment Insurance benefits. Only verified checking and saving accounts from FDIC financial institutions will be accepted.

Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Update:

The last payable week for all federal extensions, referred to as Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) benefits or tiers, ended December 28, 2013. Unless Congress passes another law, no federal extended benefits can be paid for any weeks that you are unemployed following the week ending date of December 28, 2013, even if there is a balance on your federal extension claim. Any Congressional action or updates about federal extensions will be posted on our website. 

NMDWS Reminds Claimants to Plan Accordingly

(Albuquerque) - All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions offices, including the Unemployment Insurance Operations Center, will be closed in observance of Christmas on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 and New Year’s on Wednesday, January 1, 2014.

(Albuquerque) - Federal employees who are laid off, including those furloughed during the temporary shutdown of the federal government, can file for unemployment benefits through the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS).
