Doña Ana County residents may now apply for federal disaster unemployment assistance after the county was added to New Mexico’s major disaster declaration for June 23 storms, flooding and landslides.
President Donald Trump approved disaster aid for New Mexico, authorizing unemployment assistance for Lincoln County residents and businesses affected by severe storms, flooding, and landslides that struck June 23 at the request of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham.
The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions is awaiting federal approval and guidance to offer Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA) to workers whose jobs were affected by the flooding in Ruidoso. In the meantime, individuals may apply for standard Unemployment Insurance benefits, which is the first step in the process.
