NMDWS Announces First Tri-County Virtual Job Fair

Promoting Job Opportunities in Chaves, Eddy & Lea Counties

(Albuquerque, NM) - The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions announced the first Tri-County Virtual Job Fair, scheduled for February 15-22, 2012, to connect job seekers statewide with employers in Chaves, Eddy, and Lea Counties. This event is in response to employers’ hiring needs and workforce shortages in each of the counties which have experienced job growth in various industries and unemployment below the statewide rate. (Albuquerque, NM) - The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions has mailed IRS 1099-G forms to Unemployment Insurance (UI) claimants. Claimants who do not receive their forms by next week should contact the UI Call Center at 1-877-664-6984 to verify their address and contact information. Claimants who have additional questions about their forms can call the 1099 Information and Message Line at (505) 841-8069.

(Albuquerque, NM) - All New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions offices, including the unemployment insurance call center, will be closed in observance of Christmas on Monday, December 26, 2011 and New Year’s on Monday, January 2, 2012. The unemployment insurance claims system website, www.dws.state.nm.us, will be available from 3 a.m.-8 p.m. daily, and the unemployment insurance toll-free telephone option, 1-877-664-6984, will be available 24-hours a day for normal self-service functions.

NMDWS Launches Work Search Verification Pilot Project

Increased efforts to verify UI required work search documentation

(Albuquerque, NM) – The New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (NMDWS) has launched the Work Search Verification Pilot Project to address unemployment insurance (UI) program integrity and adherence to UI benefit requirements. All UI claimants are required to conduct a minimum of two work search contacts for each week that benefits are claimed, keep a record of those work search contacts, and provide the record to NMDWS upon request. NMDWS performs a random audit based on federal requirements; the Work Search Verification Pilot Project will increase the number and frequency of work search cases to be reviewed.
