Roadrunner Food Bank - SeedCorps
Roadrunner Food Bank (RRFB), New Mexico’s largest hunger relief agency, is creating SeedCorps, a program that will address barriers to fruit and vegetable consumption, increase access to public benefits, increase awareness of existing local resources and address health priorities throughout the state. For 35 years, RRFB has been working to permanently end hunger in New Mexico. In that timespan, the Food Bank has expanded to serve more than 70,000 people across all 33 counties in the state every week. We are often the primary source of food for thousands of New Mexicans. At the same time, Roadrunner recognizes that food-insecure people in New Mexico frequently suffer from other unmet needs, including access to health services and proper nutrition. Food insecure New Mexicans are often not equipped with the tools and resources needed to practice healthy eating and active living. In rural counties, this problem is even worse. SeedCorps will partner with AmeriCorps members to create sustainable, long-term solutions to these problems.
