EcoServants is
a local grass roots nonprofit in Ruidoso, NM, established in 2003. AmeriCorps
members serve in Lincoln and Otero Counties helping improve, restore and sustainably
create trails, remove noxious weeds, improve parks, provide forest monitoring,
stand examinations, participate in White Mountain Search and Rescue, and
provide disaster relief. EcoServants proudly serves these rural, trail-rich
regions by leveraging the power of national service to restore outdoor
infrastructure, protect vital public lands, and equip young adults with
meaningful, career-building skills. EcoServants’ mission is to “engage, serve,
and restore our community and its resources through services for a more
sustainable future.”
Focus Area: Environmental Stewardship
- Eliminating environmental risks, especially those that affect children and youth, such as lead poisoning and radon exposure
- Engaging community volunteers in ongoing environmental monitoring, such as water quality testing
- Assessing, restoring and stewarding local watersheds
