2013 AmeriCorps Appreciation Week in San Juan County

San Juan County Partnership AmeriCorps members participated in a wide range of exciting community activities during AmeriCorps Week, March 9th- March 17th. On Monday March 11th and Wednesday March 12th the members assisted with an Equine Therapy program for the youth enrolled in the court mandated Drug Court program. The members assisted the youth in caring for the horses, learning to put on saddles and learning to ride the horses. This activity focused on positive nonverbal communication, patience and compassion as a therapy tool while working with large animals.

On Tuesday March 12th, the San Juan County Partnership hosted an AmeriCorps Appreciation potluck lunch for the SJCP AmeriCorps members; the members' site supervisors and other community agencies were invited to help us show our appreciation for the members' commitment to National Service. On Friday March 15th the members ran carnival games for the Sycamore Park Community Center March Madness Youth Event. Finally, on Saturday March 16th the members helped support an evening of socialization for San Juan County community members with disabilities at The ARC's Las Vegas Game Night held at the San Juan Center for Independence. The AmeriCorps members assisted with decorations, running games and cheering this amazing group of people on in an evening of fun!

Thank you, AmeriCorps members, for all you do for our communities!
